Kimo
is my incredible two-year-old German Shepherd from Czechoslovakia.
My wife and I purchased Kimo when he was just eight weeks old with hopes
that he would be trained as a Service Dog to assist me with my
disability. From the moment we brought Kimo home, we knew he would be
special. Kimo was very attentive, picking up tricks and obedience skills
with the greatest of ease. In fact, my wife and I quickly ran out of
tricks to teach him, well before he was ready to quit learning.
At the ripe old age of one, Kimo was sent off for his official Service Dog
Training where he passed with flying colors. After graduating Kimo and I
were reunited and what an incredible sight it was to behold. While
awaiting Kimo's Service Dog license; I decided to have Kimo tested as a
Registered Pet Partner with both Delta Society and Prescription Paws
located here in South Carolina. From the moment Kimo passed his test, I
knew that he was not only going to make a difference in my life, he was
going to change the lives of everyone he met.
What makes Kimo so special is the fact that not only does he work 24
hours a day, seven days a week as my Service Dog, he also visits up to four
hospital facilities as week including The Children's Hospital,
Children's Cancer Center, The Rice Home, and Oak Leaf Village where he
works as a Pet Therapy Dog bringing lots of love, laughter, and
sometimes tears to every patient he sees.
