My
family adopted Britten from a shelter nine years ago, and he took a
while to warm up to us. He is named Britten after the composer,
Benjamin Britten. The shelter told us Brittany Spaniel, but I suspect
he's a mix of Cavalier King Charles and some other spaniel. His fear of
big, tall men makes me think he perhaps has had a bad experience before
he joined my family. But he is otherwise extremely gentle, kind, and
always trying to please.
He loves the outdoors, but he can just as easily cuddle up by the fire
and watch tv with us. Even though he's quite old, he still moves like a
puppy and people are always surprised at his age. The first picture is
him after a walk - completely content and smiling. And the second one
is him standing at attention, distracted by a squirrel scurrying across
our lawn.
