Wilbur
is a gentleman of about fourteen who is named after the pig in
Charlotte's Web because of his big belly, his curly tail and his
snorting sounds. We know he is an Akita cross, not sure with what. He
was about six months old when we got him. He is the most determined,
handsomest, biggest-hearted dog in the world. He is adored by all. He
saved two dogs lives by breaking through the ice to rescue them.
Mostly Wilbur is known for his unquenchable appetite because he has
eaten numerous items, including a string of blue and green christmas
lights, a bag of weiners we left on the shore while fishing, several
"indestructible" Kongs, kids' toys and shoes from ages three - seven, rocks,
rotten salmon, tennis balls (his record is fifteen seconds), golf balls,
baseballs, frisbees, lots of logs, steaks, steak bones, bacon and egg
McMuffins, a dead deer, numerous barbecue leftovers, and blueberries off
the bush. And yes, before you ask, we do feed him dog food, honestly!
Lest you think he is just a big ball of destruction, he is also known
for being afraid of hot water bottles, decks of cards being shuffled,
anything loud, baseball hats being used as fly swatters, fireworks, and
a certain cuss word. There are lots of people we meet who are afraid of
dogs, but they are never afraid of Wilbur.
