About Us
Agnes, the Dog of the Day
Name: Agnes
Age: Two years old
Gender: Female Breed: Great Pyrenees
Home: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

My dog's name is Agnes, she's a Great Pyrenees. Agnes came to us at two months of age and has been a real handful. She's quite a stubborn pooch, but she more than makes up for it with her affectionate ways. She's a joy to be around - ask anybody - she's one of the friendliest dogs in the park. I took this picture up North on a friend's farm, and I think it suits Agnes' regal nature to a 't'.

We live in Toronto, close to a large park where we spend a lot of time. I take her out for about an hour each morning before I go to work and she gets to run around and wrestle with a bunch of other dogs. Agnes really enjoys stealing other dogs' toys and running away with them, which is a bit embarrassing, but at least she's not beating other dogs up for their toys. She gets along well with just about anybody and is a fantastic guard dog but the minute we allow someone to come in to our house she treats them like an old friend.

We've got three cats as well, that Agnes would really like to get to know and play with, but even though she grew up with them, they still don't entirely trust her except for one that will tolerate her sniffing and nuzzling for a little while before making her escape to safer territory.

I don't really know what else to tell you, other than she's a great dog, very friendly and affectionate (especially if you've got treats!). I suppose I could tell you that she's also a very large dog, just shy of a hundred pounds, but also very long and tall; she attracts a lot of attention - mainly because of her size, but also because she's got a very sweet and friendly looking face. A lot of parents are quite comfortable with Agnes around their kids, some even encourage their children to pet Agnes, that's how friendly she is.
