Lucky
is our Dalmatian sweetheart that was born August 28, 1994. He is a
very loyal and special companion who lives with my Mom and Dad in Texas.
Lucky is a very special animal because of his back story. Lucky was a
gift to me from a local breeder. I had helped her mom regain her speech
after she suffered a stroke.
Lucky had been born as part of a thirteen-pup litter. Nine of them were
hearing and four of them were deaf or partially deaf. The breeder
customarily had the deaf ones put to sleep! I asked her for one of them
and as soon as I saw the litter, little Lucky stood out. He was very
alert and he had a beautiful face and markings. We took him home and he
became a beloved pet to us and to our children and to my parents and
their dog Patches. We named him Lucky like the little Dalmatian in "101
Dalmatians" who almost lost his life in the movie.
Lucky remains a wonderful member of the family. Smart, loyal and
unexpectedly alert despite his hearing impairment. You can't get past
him, even if he is asleep on the other side of the yard. He will sense
you and come running! He also comes with an added feature... He can smile!
