We
got Scout from the pound when she approximately three months old. She had
been abandoned in a field after somebody had amputated her tail. Poor
thing! She had also clearly been mistreated in other ways as she was
terrified of men in hats in addition to being terrified of brooms,
rakes... anything that looked like a stick. We named her Scout after the
memorable character from the book, "To Kill a Mockingbird."
We took her home and she started bonding with her rat terrier sister,
Teeny. Those two play and wrestle and chase. Our latest addition, a
small kitten, looks up to Scout so very much (literally and otherwise)
They chase and wrestle as well!
She has come a long way and is a very important part of our lives. We
love her a lot and just melt when she looks at us with that wonderful
smile of hers. What a beautiful soul she is! She is such a sweetie pie,
we call her our "love bug"... I've never met such a sweet dog in my
whole life! When we first met her at the humane society, they told us
that she had such a rough beginning, having been abused and dumped into
a field. She is inspiring because despite her hard puppyhood, she was
always and still is one of the most loving dogs I have ever met. She is
truly an irreplaceable member of our family!
