Sugarbear
is a two-year-old, purebred Rottweiler, who lives with me in
Everett, WA. She was rescued from an animal shelter in Shelton, WA by me
on July 02, 2005. She is the most gentle, loving, intelligent, and
well-behaved dog I have ever known!
Her story: apparently, a truck driver was heading up a logging road in
the middle of nowhere when he spotted this beautiful Rottweiler sitting
by the side of the road, as if waiting for her ride. He continued up the
mountain, and when he returned in three hours, she was still sitting in the
same spot! So, he pulled over and invited her into the cab with him. He
then spent over a week trying to locate owners, but to no avail. He did
not have a lifestyle to accommodate the dog, so he surrendered her to the
local shelter (Adopt-a-pet), which is where I found her.
This dog is absolutely amazing! I take her to a local off-leash park
nearly every day, and she gets along with all other dogs - big, small,
it makes no difference. Smaller dogs are often intimidated by her size
at first (110#), but if they act that way, she will lay down and allow
them to come over and sniff her. Once they're comfortable with her -
it's all play! Also - she is very good with my cat. I often see the cat
go over to her and muzzle her for a few licks!
She has been trained, and learns very quickly. She is a truly wonderful
companion.
