What
makes her so very special? Well, as far as my family and I are
concerned she is the most beautiful, lovable, adorable, charming and
noble creature that nature has ever produced - a real princess, although
at times she has a will of her own, like all Huskies do. That is why we
want to share her beauty with the whole world - to let everybody see the
beauty of nature.
Maya is a very affectionate dog, she loves people and is very friendly
to them, i.e. human beings, goes up to everyone and greets them, being
also very curious, but gets upset every time she sees a cat - she loves
chasing them. This is our only problem with her because we have two cats
of our own, a black female cat, Shiva, and a grey male cat, Akela. The
sad truth is we have to keep them separated even after two years of
trying to get them acquainted with each other. Our son brought her home
two years ago from some people he knew who were relocating and couldn't
keep the dog any longer - we've always had cats for the past twenty
years or so, sometimes three at a time. Maya was our first dog. I
objected at first, fearing the worst of problems with our two cats, and
ignored Maya for the first three days (we still have to keep them
separated to avoid conflicts). But after the fourth day, after seeing
her for the first time with my eyes "open" I fell in love with her. You
just can't help but love Maya (my wife says she's a real charmer and
knows how to win peoples hearts). Actually she has the traits of both
breeds, Collie and Husky. She is very kind and very sensitive on the one
hand (Collie) and yet sometimes shows her own will, ignoring my calls
(Husky), especially when she sees a cat or is digging for mice in the
fields. She loves playing soccer, i.e. I kick the ball and she goes
after it and fetches it (it's all chewed up in the meantime). She also
likes playing with other dogs but she has become quieter and a bit lazy
in the past few months - my wife claims I feed her too much, but I just
can't resist her when she looks at me with her beautiful eyes - she
certainly knows how to melt my heart. I wouldn't give her away for all
of the world's treasures, she's given me so much joy and so many laughs,
especially when I take her for our regular "dog walks", usually one
whole hour in the afternoon and a shorter walk in the evening (my wife
takes the morning walk with her). I always have a leash with me, just in
case, but she always walks without it when the two of us go out - in the
meantime she is accustomed to walking without a leash and always stays
in my vicinity. I have never tried to "train" her to do any tricks or
stunts because I wanted to keep her as she is: a natural dog with a
natural behavior - and I believe she is thankful for that.

her face.
