Barkley
is the love of my life (except for my husband, of course). He
is a cocker spaniel mix, white with blonde ears. My other dog passed
away and I missed her terribly because she was my little cuddle buddy.
So I started dropping in to the local shelters to see if I could find
another friend. I saw him sitting in a cage outside the shelter as I
walked up to the door, and I knew right away that he was just waiting
for me. It seems that this shelter (a no-kill shelter) had a shortage
of dogs for adoption so they went to the pound to find some.
There was Barkley, a stray, with only one day left before they were
going to put him down. So the people from the shelter took him with
them and gave him the temporary name "Bartley." I thought this had to
be fate, because before I knew that, I had decided to call him Barkley.
He is a very bright, extremely affectionate, playful dog. I have an
older dog and some cats too, and he has them all playing and romping
about since he came home with me. I don't know how anyone could have
lost or abandoned such a sweetie pie. But I am so glad he is now mine.
