Please
meet my new addition to my household, Roxie. I got her at six
weeks of age and not a day has gone by since I brought her home that she
has not made me smile. I recently lost my Australian Shepherd that I had
for twelve years. My house was so different not having him around
anymore, but I just couldn't imagine having a new dog right now. Then
six weeks ago one day while at work conversing with a friend about my
loss and her experiencing a similar situation a year before when her son
lost his female Pit "Baby Girl", she mentioned that his male pit,
"President," with whom I was familiar, was a father. Not sure if I
wanted to go with another breed besides an Aussie, I hesitated to ask
her to see if there were any puppies left. After thinking about is for
awhile I asked to see if there were any puppies left and if so were they
females? Well there was one puppy left and she was a female, so I
decided I would like to go take a look at her. She won me over the
minute I saw her, such a precious face and thus my adventure began with
raising my new "Roxie".
I must admit that having not had a puppy around in such a long time, not
to mention never having had a Pit puppy before, there are new challenges
everyday, but I would not give her up for anything. Roxie is definitely
not a replacement, as my Aussie will always be very special to me. She
is a new addition/next chapter in my life and worth all the trials that
we face everyday. She is very energetic and sometimes I think too smart
for her own good. I guess in some strange way it was meant to be for
Roxie to come into my life now, as the circumstance that brought her to
me happened without any effort. I am so looking forward to the many
years we will have together.
