Caye, the Dog of the Day
Name: Caye
Age: Two years old
Gender: Male Breed: Jack Russell, Chihuahua mix
Home: Lake Tahoe, Nevada, USA

Hey, World. It's me, Caye. Rhymes with Pie. I have many nicknames - Cayezer Soze, Caye-bo, Caye-dee-Caye-Caye and Caye-Yak. My real name is Calle, which is Spanish for "street," which is where I was found when I was a puppy before I was rescued.

I am fourteen pounds of unbridled energy. When I run in tall grass, you might not see me, but little plumes of dust exploding underneath my feet are a dead giveaway. I love Lake Tahoe. During the summer, there are mountains and boulders to climb, dog-friendly beaches, and lots of water to drink (boy, Lake Tahoe is big). During the winter, I prefer to romp in snow that's so deep I often have to be rescued. That's the Jack Russell part of me. The chihuahua part of me loves people ever so much that I often have to be peeled off people's laps. It's exhausting to be me.

I have a mom who has to travel a lot for work, so I'm lucky that I have godparents who take me to "camp" when she's not around. My godmother is a triathalete so I get to run miles and miles and miles and miles. Then when I'm tired, I head straight for my godfather's lap. Sometimes I get to go to my mom's office. I am in charge of entertaining people when everyone gets stressed out. It's a good job and I get paid well in dog treats, belly scratches, and oh yeah, I get to nose around and see what goodies are left over in everyone's trash cans.

I am too smart for my own good. I know how to sit, down, stay, go away, shake hands, target, go to bed, and talk. I refuse to roll over or crawl on command. I only come if I know you have a treatie in hand and there aren't any other distractions (like other dogs, people, cars, leaves, dirt, or water). I also know that I am beloved by many, but mostly by my mom, who thinks I'm very photogenic and adorable to a fault.

   I am Caye.
