There
aren't enough words to describe Maggie, but the one that comes to
mind often is human. She isn't a dog, just a person with fur. It's
amazing to me how she can look at you and her eyes tell you what she
wants. She all but writes you letters when she needs something. She
was always a lap dog from the time I brought her home and she continues
to be just that. She likes to climb onto her grandfather's lap to curl
up and take naps. At 82 pounds she's by far big to be a lap dog, but no
one seems to mind.
She has a thing for blankets...the more the better, and she won't lay down
on the couch unless there is one under her. If one is missing, she
stares at you until you comply. She loves to sleep on my big bed but
instead of stretching out, she gets as close as she can, after she
fluffs her pillow of course.
She runs like a gazelle and she teases my bloodhound with how fast she
can run. She's unbelievably neat and loves to be clean, but getting her
that way is a chore. For a water dog, she hates getting in the bath.
Dropping all her weight to the ground isn't unusual when it comes to
bath day and it takes two of us to get her in the tub. Once she's in,
she's fine...it's just getting her there that makes it interesting.
As you can see by the picture, she's a sun catcher... wherever there is a
patch of sun, she finds it and curls up like a cat. She is an
incredible part of my life and she has brought joy and love to all those
around her. She has been described as fun loving and even hyper at
times, but my favorite description came from a friend who called her
majestic. She really is just that!
