This
is Diego. In his younger years he was a search and rescue dog for a
state police agency. Stories from his previous owner was that Diego was
abused and mistreated by past owners. He was afraid of men, flashlights
and loud noises. Just by chance my daughters brownie troop went to the
local vet clinic this summer. On the "needs a good home" board was a
picture of Diego. We already had two shepherds at home but his face just
captured me. The next day we called. Diego had been living at the clinic
for over six months because his owner couldn't have a dog in his
apartment. He felt Diego should go to a home were he could run and play.
He came to live with us in August. He is still a little nervous around
men but has molded quite well into our family ... not to mention the
couch. He likes to lay on the deck and watch the other dogs run and
play. Every once in a while he will make a mad dash for them then
quickly comes back to safety. His favorite thing to do is roll in the
grass in the front yard and army crawl. I like to think he is thinking
"Oh this feels soooo good." We live on a farm so he gets to roam the
acres with us and is now enjoying the life he was meant to live. He is
my special boy.
