Corky
came to us as an eight-week-old Sheltie/Husky pup and I can't imagine
life without her. She's my best four-legged friend and skiing/running
partner. She has the kind of face that just makes people happy when they
look at her - how many of us can do that? We love this photo of her
against the snow - we think it shows off her coloring very well.
She is also very brave. Last year, while walking on our farm we
encountered a mother black bear with a new cub. Corky immediately placed
herself between me and the bear and remained there barking even as the
bear charged us! She drove the bear back and then stayed right by my
side as we hightailed it to home. (In the bear's defense, we did startle
her and her reaction was in total keeping with bear behavior - including
backing off due to the noise from the dog).
Corky is very smart and learns quickly. Her most recent accomplishment
is having her photo on the cover of a newly published novel. Now we call
her our Cover Girl. Luckily, success has not gone to her head.
