About Us
Harley, the Dog of the Day
Name: Harley
Age: Two and a half years old
Gender: Male Breed: Shetland Sheepdog
Home: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

Harley is our Shetland Sheepdog. He is our special little boy. Harley is so smart and well behaved - although he is a bit greedy with his toys and cookies!! He loves to play Frisbee and with his basketball in the backyard. He also loves his two sisters who are also Shelties - Skye and Sonya. He also gets along great with our two kitties! I love all of my dogs but this little guy earns the top spot in my heart. He is so loving and gets so excited to see my husband & I when we come home. He really makes everyone feel special and loved. He is my little "Prince".

Harley is such a special sheltie. He is now 2 1/2 years old and we got him when he was eight weeks old. I had never owned a dog before and when my husband and I brought him home, I was scared to death!! He spent his puppy days at my mom and dad's house (pappy and grammy to him) since my dad is retired, he was able to watch Harley during those stressful and important first few months while my husband and I both worked. He turned out to be the most wonderful pet anyone could ask for. Harley recently learned how to "sing" on command - it's more howling than singing, but regardless, it's music to our ears. He does have a strong herding instinct. When I was out with my brother when he was looking for a golden retriever puppy, Harley came along as well and managed to herd all ten of the puppies against their owner's couch. He loves to go for rides in the car, especially during the summer months when he can ride in the car with the top down and the wind blowing through his fur!

He has two sisters - a two year old blue merle named Skye (she is very hyper and crazy) and a six year old tri-color named Sonya (a former Champion show dog - a bit of a snob, yet so adorable that she gets away with it) They are both shelties as well. We just love the breed. They are so smart and very easy to train. Harley is just so special though, since his sisters both love to chew and steal things around the house, Harley is a complete angel and is content playing with his toys (a Harley Davidson ball, of course) and his rawhides. He loves to be outside and catch frisbee with his Daddy. My husband and I cannot sit together on the couch without Harley climbing on us and settling in between us - he is very jealous and loves to have all the attention. He also shares the house with his two feline siblings, Cranky and Donzi, with whom he gets along great with. I cannot imagine not having this special boy in our lives and I cherish all the time that he has to be with us.
