This
photo is of Watson in a Texas bluebonnet field enjoying the sun and
smells. There are many ways to describe how special Watson is, but two
characteristics make Watson very special to me.
1. His adoption date is September 11, 2001. I had not had a pet to
take care of for over twenty years and I just had bought a house. I wanted
to get a dog and adopted Watson on the previous Friday, September 7,
2001, but had to leave him with Operation Kindness until he was neutered.
I picked Watson up on Tuesday morning only to come home and see the
terrible tragedy with the World Trade Center towers in New York. Watson
was a great comfort to me at that time, and continues to be so.
2. My mother passed away in February 2005 in New Orleans, LA. I am the only
child of seven living out of state. My mother passed while I was driving
the 500 miles I had to drive. I was only on the road for around an hour
when my brother phoned me to tell me. I had seven more hours of driving in
pouring rain for the next 450 miles or so. My pal Watson was a
tremendous comfort to me once again.
Watson seems to have a built in radar for knowing when something isn't
right. He is very sweet and affectionate and tries to remain physically
close when he detects sadness in me. It is very comforting to have such
a great friend that can sense when things are not as good as they can
be.
Watson is a sensitive, loving, affectionate friend and that is what
makes my little pal Watson so special to me.
