Meet
Wallace... he turned four on February 14th. We rescued Wallace from
a shelter when he was twelve weeks old. He was serving his 2nd stint in
the shelter; after being adopted at the age of six weeks and then later
returned. Wallace was not the dog I wanted, but my daughter refused to
budge from his kennel, and like most thirteen year olds, she got her way.
Thank God!
Wallace is an amazing dog. We live on a ranch and he works with my husband
every day. His job last spring included "mothering" a calf that was an
orphan. Every morning and night Wallace would "go get" his calf, bring it
to me for a bottle and then spend the next ten to fifteen minutes licking
the calf from head to toe. They would run together and play just like two
kids.
Wallace has never had a bad day and has never met a person (or animal)
that he didn't love. What's amazing about that is that he suffers from a
degenerative eye disease called Pannus. Every morning and night he sits
before me to have his eye drops. His love for life is infectious and
reminds me daily to be thankful for what I have, Wallace included.
