When
I moved back to Thunder Bay and into my parents' home, I decided I
wanted a dog, so my mom, sisters and I went to check out some puppies. I
wanted one that looked like a Yorkie and most of them did, except for
this one little black puppy. There was something special about him from
the minute I picked him up. I wasn't sure if I was ready for a puppy,
so we set the dogs back in their playpen and as I took one last look at
them, all the puppies were playing, except for the black one - he was
looking up at me and whimpering. In that moment, I picked him up and
decided he was my Skittles.
From day one, Skittles has had a very distinct personality. Crying is
his main form of communication - particularly when he wants to play. He
loves to play fetch and to be chased around the house. He loves to be
outside, laying in the sun or running in the snow. His best friend is
Jake (my mom's dog), they have a love/hate relationship - they love to
cuddle, but are insanely jealous of any attention the other one gets.
Skittles sleeps with me at night and will often wake me up with kisses.
If that doesn't get me out of bed, he'll cry and cry, just so I'll get
up and play with him. He does love to sleep, though, and if he's not
running around the living room, he's usually in my bed, curled up in the
blankets.
Skittles is more than I could ever ask for and having him in my life is
the best part of each day.
