My
name is Lola and I love when my mom breaks out into the Barry Manilow
chorus of "Her name is Lola, she is a show doggie!". Well, I may not be
a show dog but I am just as lucky. My cuteness has gotten me lots of
places... the best part of the bed, and on the foot of the dark brown
recliner as my mom or dad rest comfortably which makes me look like the
hood ornament. I am the youngest and the most spoiled. My two brothers
are a nine-year-old Blonde Cocker named "Happy" and a four-year-old
black Chow/cocker/lab mix named Charlie. We look like the vanilla, milk
chocolate and dark chocolate singing trio when next to each other. I
love to give kisses and have my "toy" thrown on our living room floor
be cause I get some great sliding action there My mom and dad have dog
proofed their house with tile and wood floors throughout and leather
furniture... oh and the best part, our own doggie door!! YUP, I
got a pretty good home!!
Our little girl Lola was born October 9th, 2005 and she is the angel that
came into our lives just at the right time. This is her baby picture. My
husband and I have had at least four dogs as long as we have been together
nineteen years. We live on ten acres and my brother Ted started living with
us about two years ago. His residence is his fifth wheel behind our house.
His wife had died unexpectedly at an age of 43 so he was quite lonley and
one of our dogs, a buff cocker named Sadie took him under her wing/paw.
They became good buddies and she would spend a lot of time with him. On
November 16th 2005 when we went to bed I assumed she was with him and he
assumed she was with us. When my husband goes to work he always
gives the dogs each a cookie and Sadie was not there that morning, so he
told me he was leaving her cookie on the counter for her when she comes
in. I got up around 9am and checked with my brother to see if Sadie was
with him, and she wasn't. We immediately checked all the usual places
before we decided to get in the truck and go check out in the back part of
the property. Way out in the back we found her mauled from the shoulders
down! A coyote had gotten her. We were all very very upset to say the
least. She was ten years old and the mother of one of our other
dogs.
I went to go see a pet psychic, which I was skeptical about but desperate
because I wanted to know if she suffered. She got probably 80% right on
identifying Sadie, but the wierd part was she said we would get another
Cocker and Sadie's spirit will be with her cause Sadie wanted to come back
as she was so happy with us and felt she left the earth too soon.
Long story short, about a month later I had a strong drive to look in the
pet ads, which I never do. I saw these Chocolate cockers for sale!
I called my husband at work and being the sweet man he is, ageed I could
go "look at them". I fell in love with this little girl and she was the
last one left. Yes, that is how Lola came into our lives and she is so
much like Sadie it is spooky. She even does not go out in front when the
other dogs are barking, she jumps on the couch and barks from there and
Sadie was the only dog we had that would do that. She is loved so
much and so spoiled, we really feel our Sadie has returned, just in the
Chocolate form!
