About Us
Freckels, the Dog of the Day
Name: Freckels
Age: Fourteen years old
Gender: Female Breed: Australian Shepard
Home: Saginaw, Michigan, USA

What can I say about our baby Freckels?? Well, she has been the best dog we have ever had. She has been through a lot and has always has her tail wagging. When she was three months old she contacted Parvo. The vet wanted us to put her down But I said no way. We took her home with some meds and lots of love. She layed on a doggie bed for two months in front of the sofa, We bottle fed her and she got better day by day. As sick as she was she still wagged her tail as she ate and was held. Then one morning she woke us with her barking!!! She was weak for a while after that but she was well.

Then when she was six months old the little boy next door hit her in the head with a baseball bat. She suffered a fracture to the skull. We rushed her to the vet again and they again wanted us to put her down. No Way!!! We took her home and nursed her back to health again.

She has been raised with my children Angie now 18, Michael now 20 and Adam now 22. They love her to death and she is a part of our family. She loves to sleep at my feet and she loves to lick feet!! She is very protective and loves to run at the park. She has a little sister Chica, Miniature poodle and Freya, a Chow/Golden Retriever mix. And of course there's Miss Lilly (long haired calico cat). She loves to be around people and loves to go for walks. She loves all other dogs and cats and has been the most loving and faithful pet we have ever had. She is now deaf and has started forming cataracts. She moves a little slower now and has arthritis in her rear legs. She is on meds and takes her aspirin every day with peanut butter.

Our vet says he is amazed by how good she is doing for her age. She still plays with her sisters and is the instigator of all the trouble in the house. She may be old but she is young at heart. We know her time is limited. As we can see. But as long as the vet says she is doing good then she will be with us. She will be 15 on November 10th of this year. We love our baby and she is a wonderful Family member. We will be very sad when the time comes when she has to go over the Rainbow Bridge. But the memories will be by the thousands and the pictures will be endless.
