My
pretty little girl's name is Nikita Sophia. She was born on 7/4/06,
making her six months of age in these pictures. She is the most special
thing in our lives, coming in a year that had brought an incurable
illness, loss of employment and the death of our beloved girl
fifteen-year-old dog Runt, Nikita has brought more smiles than one can ever
imagine, more unconditional love than anyone deserves and more joy in
the short time we have had her than most humans experience in a
lifetime.
The year 2006 was not going so well in our household, my other half was
laid off, I was given a preliminary diagnosis of MS and then we lost our
beloved pet of fifteen years Runt. I went into a very deep depression, to the
point I was wondering if I would ever pull out of it.
One day my other half suggested we visit a local shelter, just to look
and there she was, a little puppy hiding behind her five other litter
mates, she seemed so timid and was the runt of the litter. That was it,
she came home with us that afternoon and our house hasn't been the same
since. When we got her she weighed twelve pounds and fit very nicely on our
laps and in our bed, she is now over 50 pounds and we are having a
difficult time convincing her she is well past the "lapdog" stage.
Nikita Sophia has so much energy, her favorite game is "Go Nikita, Go",
she runs as fast as she can for as long as she can then jumps into one
of our laps for kisses. Nikita Sophia has brought so much joy, laughter
and love into our home in the short time we have had her and we Thank
God for her every day. We can't imagine our world without her.
