We
decided we wanted a miniature schnauzer... so we made the trek to a
breeder and looked at the various puppies. When the breeder described
the smallest blackest one she said "That one and that little pure white
bichon over there get all the other puppies going". She told us how
naughty she seemed to be, so we knew she was the one we wanted. We had
to wait several weeks before she was old enough for us to take her home.
We almost cancelled a trip to Houston so we could get her early.We took
our older dog Sadie along to pick Elli up and... well Sadie is still
wondering when we are taking her back!
She loves when Grandma babysits her because she can get away with
everything. Her other Grandma is good for a cuddle and sneaks her
peanut butter toast! When she was little she got very sick and we
thought we were going to lose her. It turned out that she had an under
developed soft pallette (very rare) and had to have two surgeries to
repair it. Because of the soft pallette problem, she has always taken
drinks like a bird. She gets a little water in her mouth and throws her
head back to swallow. She's OK with it but after her surgeries we had to
feed her wet dog food rolled into little balls. We didn't like the smell
on our hands, but she sure liked all the attention. Anyway she is
healthy now! And as loved and as naughty as ever!
