Mandy, the Dog of the Day
Name: Mandy
Age: Six years old
Gender: Female Breed: Border Collie
Home: McKinney, Texas, USA

My name is Mandy and my mom searched for the perfect puppy for two months. When she arrived at the pound that I was at, she sat down in the middle of the floor and I ran and bounced onto her lap. I gave her plenty of kisses. She instantly fell in love with me. Mommy found out that I was going to be euthanized that afternoon, so, it didn't take long for her to sign the adoption papers. I was so excited to have a home to go to.

We stopped at White Rock Lake for my first adventure. I wasn't too comfortable to be without my new mom, without a leash, so I stayed by her feet. All the new smells and learning what puppies do. Mom was very patient with me.

While I grew up, I really never chewed on furniture, carpet or shoes. I guess that's because she always came home with a new toy. My toy box has, at least 50 toys, for me to choose from. I love them all, but I only have a selected few that I will play with: praying mantis, cow, or moose (which was given to me by a new friend that I just met name Roxie).

I live with my sister, Roxanne, a cat, and I stop and give her kisses every day. I love my mom and I know she loves me too. She takes me on walks every day, even if it's raining, sleeting, or possible snowing, and she never gets tired of walking me. I look forward to her arrival home from work. I know what time she drives into the garage and when she comes in the door, I run to her, I talk to her and I give her plenty of kisses. She even taught me how to sit at street corners (you don't walk across the street until you look both ways), stay, smile and I also give hugs.

   I love my mom.
