Banjo, the Dog of the Day
Name: Banjo
Age: Nine months old
Gender: Male Breed: Golden Retriever
Home: Lake City, Colorado, USA

When we moved to a new house with a yard that a big dog could romp around in, we started looking for a big dog. I had always wanted a big golden to name Banjo and to put a red bandanna around it's neck. Soon we found a friend of ours who sold purebred goldens, and we were going to get one about two months later. But he was driven in by my dad to our house. My dad drove all night to get Banjo home so we could have him sooner. Banjo was a spoiled little outside dog when we got him. After he arrived here, he slept inside in a crate in my room until he barked all night. Then he couldn't stay in my room any more, as I do need to sleep!

Banjo is very smart. I taught him to sit in one day. He knows "lie down" too, if you pat the ground. He is so sweet! He still jumps up on people, but he loves to lick you and have his belly rubbed. He is very intelligent, and like to bark at the bears in the summer and coyotes in the winter. He likes to roll in the snow. Then it melts and freezes again, but instead of on the ground it freezes on him. He doesn't seem to mind, though. He likes to tear apart all the beds we get for him and lay on the scraps. Banjo is special because of his great personality and gentle disposition.
