Buddy
is our pet. We don't really know what breed he is, we think he is a
foxhound of some type. He is special because we rescued him from a
shelter. We got Buddy when he was about four months old... though we were
told he was nine months. We had recently lost our yellow Lab mix Luke
after almost eighteen years (I know that's a long time for a Lab) and
decided to get another pet.
Buddy has very high energy. He'll go from 100 mph to asleep in just the
blink of a eye. He loves being around us, and if we have to leave, he'll
look out the window to watch us go.
He likes to play catch. He knows how to sit and when he sits, it's more of
a "pick up the back legs and waits till his bottom catches up" type sit.
It's real cute and then he'll sit there like a real gentleman. He also
knows to lie down and to shake hands (both). He knows when he hears his
name, especially if the word "ride" or "walk" is included with it. If he
gets into trouble (and he really does know that he is being "bad") he'll
slink around the house until one of us finds what he did. The guilty
conscience gives it away every time. He lets you know when he has to "go
outside" by running to the back door and squeaks (whistling sound).
At night, Buddy will wait until we get into bed... actually he'll wait
until I get into bed and then takes my wife's space. She always argues
with him and tries to reason with him. After a few minutes of everybody
jostling around he usually finds his space. Did I mention he was very high energy?
