Penina, the Dog of the Day
Name: Penina
Age: Thirteen months old
Gender: Female Breed: Chihuahua
Home: Voluntown, Connecticut, USA

Hi! My name is Penina and I moved to Connecticut last spring. My new Mommy and Daddy rescued me from living in a house with a very big boy dog who was a little too interested in me. I'm just not that kind of girl!

Now I live in the woods in Connecticut, and I have three Chihuahua sisters. They didn't like me at first, but I think we are getting to be friends. My sisters' names are Carmencita, Fiona, and Marina. Mommy's uncle says that Fiona must have issues with her ethnicity because they gave her a Scottish name! Carmencita is very old - sixteen - so she doesn't want to play with me. I like to chase her though, and then Mommy and Daddy get aggravated. I have lots more fun with Fiona and Marina because they are five and seven years old and still like to play.

My new Mommy bought me a special toy - a pink stuffed sheep. We play fetch with it, but sometimes I forget to bring it back. I know it is my toy though, and none of my sisters better play with it or I'll be really mad! Daddy has been teaching me to go to the bathroom outside (I used to use a litter box) and I'm getting better at it. Once I get really good I get to sleep with Mommy, Daddy, and my sisters in a big waterbed!!

I'm so happy with my new parents. They take me places so that I can meet people and get "socialized" That way I won't be just another yappy ankle-biter! I've already been to the vet, and this week Daddy is taking me to the library where Mommy works.

Guess I'd better go. Maybe Marina is up for some "run around the coffee table" laps. Once she gets too tired I'll wake up Fiona!!
