Our
dog, Rowdy, is always in high spirits when anyone is over to our
house and is as "rowdy" as his name implies.
Rowdy is a very affectionate dog. In fact he is too affectionate. When
we take him for a walk off leash, he has a tendency to "play" with other
dogs and jump on people. One day when we took him for a walk, Rowdy
saw some people about 2/3 of a block away. He made a "beeline" for
them. On the way, he went through some weeds and small bushes taking a
tumble head over heels, but this did not impede him. I don't suppose
these people ever saw a dog going that fast! He was not interested in
our pleas to stop. He continued and we feared the worst. The people
saw this speeding demon approaching and did not know what to do, but a
woman picked up the two or three year old child which was a good idea.
Fortunately, Rowdy just circled them and raced back to us.
We made a dish of food for Rowdy who is not a big eater. He had a
combination of hamburger, ginger, milk, eggs, and dried bread. This
was a big hit.
He knows a few tricks like stay, sit, lie, but he is an expert at
fetching the paper in the mornings. Sometimes he gets carried away and
wants to gather the neighbors' papers too.
He acts like an alpha dog when around other dogs, but is a coward at
heart. He is afraid of the noises coming out of the computer, thunder,
vacuum cleaner, and really any loud noise. He likes to sleep on my
husband's lap like a "lap cat". It makes him feel secure.
He is two years old and still "pees like a girl" instead of "marking"
his territory like most male dogs do. We are happy about that! Anyway
he is, we love him and he is a wonderful member of our family.
