Three
months after our dear sixteen year old dog "TumTum" died, we found
Tramp abandoned, hungry and scared stiff.
I named him Tramp because he was just that; lonely and hungry. He is a
life saver because he arrived at the right time after our Tum Tum died.
We had intended to go to the animal shelter and choose a dog, but I was
dreading this as I would want to adopt all of the dogs there. Tramp just
turned up and comforted us.
We think Tramp is partly "Salouki", the ancient Arab breed of hunting
dog. The vet estimated his age as three years, but we think he was a lot
younger since he chewed shoes and pranced around in the garden, hugging
the broom.
Tramp almost killed our tortoise Zeena. He just picked her up and
dropped her on her back, I don' think he knew she was a real animal and
not a toy. Still she survived, none the worse for wear and he no
longer bothers her.
We have had Tramp for two years now and he is much bolder. He is gentle
and obedient and has taken to chasing any cat that dares enter our
garden. He leaps very high and runs very fast. This is how he lies
sometimes with his feet on the wall. There is plenty of room for him to
stretch out, but he chooses to lie against the wall like that!
A year later, we found another stray dog, who my son named Greggor. Both
dogs get on like a house on fire. Tramp runs and leaps and Greggor
waddles behind him. When my sister travels she brings her poodle mix
dog to stay with us and both our dogs gang up and try to boss him.
We feel very lucky to have found Tramp and his brother Greggor.
