This
is Sambuca, but we call her Boo. What makes our Boo special?
Everything! We went to the Broward Humane Society in March of 2005, this
was about two and a half months after we had gotten married and I moved
from New York to Florida. We had just gone to look around and long story
short we found this little black puppy the called Lucy Lucille. She was
very playful and wasn't afraid of us when we met her. She captured our
hearts on the spot and has been such a bright spot in our lives everyday
since.
Boo is so social she loves people, kids and other dogs. She trained so
easily, she's extremely smart. Yet she is so lovable, we fought for weeks
to keep her out of our bed at night, but lost. However in the last six
months, she doesn't always go to sleep with us and we miss her.
This summer we had a baby boy, whom Boo has come to love and of course is
a bit jealous that some of her attention is being showered onto this new
baby, but we've made a very big effort to give Boo all the attention she
needs too, she was here first. Our son looks for Boo and Boo looks for
him. They've been seen sleeping next to one another on our bed and Boo is
always happy to give the Baby a kiss.
Last month a friend of the family had come to our house to meet our son
and Boo had never met him before. When the visitor approached the baby
and went to motion his hand towards the baby in his carriage, Boo growled
at him. She protected our baby on instinct! Boo loves and protects us
and that baby with her whole heart. We knew she was special before this
but after this incident we love her even more and she is even more special
and precious to us and our son.
