This
is Maya's puppy picture taken when she was 2.5 months old. Maya is
a Mixed Breed but she thinks she's a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Maya is
special to me partly because I bottle-fed her from the time she was two
weeks old. Maya and her ten siblings were found along a country road
during a hot summer outside the town of Midland, Texas. The person that
found the box of puppies thought it was a box of old rags but quickly
discovered it was a box of puppies!!! All eleven puppies would have died a
horrible death in the hot sun if this special person had not found
them!!!
When I heard about eleven puppies being found and that help was needed, I
rushed to the "Small Engine Repair" shop and chose Maya to take home
with me. Maya went to work with me every day and ate and slept and
played at Burlington Resources Inc. There was a lot of stress at
Burlington in those days because the company was going through major
changes due to a buyout and everyone was short-handed. Maya helped
de-stress the employees with her happy, smiling face and puppy breath!!!
Maya now lives with me in Montgomery, Texas along with her five "brother
and sister" Pembroke Welsh Corgis that also helped raise her. Today Maya
is a beautiful, strong 80 pounds and still growing!!! She loves to play
fetch, wrestle with Corgis, and go for rides in the car. She is always
thankful for every day that she lives and is the smartest, most loving dog
I have ever known!! I love all of my dogs, but Maya has a special
place in my heart.
