About Us
Chilly, the Dog of the Day
Name: Chilly
Age: Four year old
Gender: Male Breed: Golden Retriever
Home: Lake Forest Park, Washington, USA

Chilly is a four-year-old Golden Retriever who lives in Lake Forest Park, WA. Chilly is a very special boy!! He always gives 110% in whatever we are doing. And we do a lot! We compete in obedience, rally, agility, field, dock diving, freestyle and dressage but most important he is my best friend.

Chilly is not just my best friend, he helps others as well. He also is a blood donor at the animal blood bank in Lake City and is a therapy dog. He will always be there for me when I am upset and will celebrate the good times with me. His total enjoyment of life each day inspires me!

Canine Dressage is a fairly new division in the Paws 2 Dance organization. It differs from canine musical freestyle in that the main focus is on heeling. Tricks may be included but they will mainly be used for transition purposes with 90% of the routine done in heeling position. When heeling, whether it is forward, backward, parallel etc. the dog must be in heeling position. If the dog is out of position the team will not get any credit for that particular portion of the routine. Heeling done at different tempos is also a move the judge will be looking for. The music will be your cue to where the various types of heeling will occur. Heeling executed with high leg kicks will be a bonus to the team. Precise heeling and good use of the music tempo to make the routine interesting will be the key to a well executed routine.

Chilly gives 110% in all the events he competes in. We just love to do things together whether working or going for a walk. He has a very fun loving personality and makes me laugh every day. He is very affectionate and loves to cuddle. He will pick up anything I asked him to and will retrieve all the food dishes after each meal. After I had major shoulder surgery I was watching TV and dropped the remote he instantly picked it up (without me asking!) and gave it to me. He is such a special dog!!!

We started in competitive obedience and went into freestyle and rally. He is bred to do field so we have earned his 1st level titles and will pursue more field titles later. He loves to run so decided to do agility. He loves water and loves to jump in so decided to try dock diving and he was a natural at it.

As a therapy dog he used to go to my Dad's retirement center but since my Dad passed away in January we have not done therapy visits but want to do more. People love to see and pet him. When going to my Dad's room it always took me a long time since everybody wanted to stop and pet him.

Chilly is also a blood donor for the Animal Critical Care and Emergency Services blood bank. He donates about every 3-4 months. They love him there because he is so sweet and very patient while they are drawing his blood. He gets a toy and treats after each donation so he loves to go.

Chilly is a very special dog and I am truly blessed to have him in my life!!
