Howdy,
my name is Becca, and I live out here in the Land of Enchantment with
my two loving parents and my brother, George, the cat. They tell me I'm a
year and nine months old, but I feel like a spring puppy. Can you guess my
breed? The kind folks at the animal shelter say Border Collie/Australian
Cattle dog mix, but I like to believe I have some Dalmatian in me. I can just
picture myself riding up on that Budweiser wagon.
I'm really lucky because my dad takes me for a hike every morning, and I just
love to ram around the Chihuahuan Desert. At first I was a devil, terrorizing
every jackrabbit in sight; but I've gotten a lot better lately. I come when
Dad calls me, and I've cut down my jackrabbit pursuits to about one a day.
Pretty soon I'll just watch as those little mule-earred rabbits zip away
through the creosote bushes.
I pay attention really well at home, and I'm well-behaved, exept when I try to
herd George. He always reminds me, though, that he's having none of it, and I
have to respect his wishes. Besides, he clawed me once, and I'm a quick
study. I'm a good girl, and I'm getting better. My goal in life is to prove
to Dad that he was wrong when he once said of my adoption: "No good deed goes
unpunished." I think he's coming around.
