Shamus
is a Mastiff or Great Dane Mix, but we're not sure really what his mix
is. My twelve-year-old Lab and I traveled to one of the local dog shelters
about five years ago seeking an new family member. There stood alone this
strange-looking puppy with the largest paws you have ever seen. I knew when I
first looked at him, he needed to come home with my Lab and me! However, the
dog shelter employees did not agree. They brought out puppy after puppy to
introduce to my Lab and she did not like any of them and let us know that
quite clearly. Finally, the shelter employees brought out Shamus! It was
love at first sight!! My Lab even liked him, too.
Since then, Shamus has been a colorful part of the family. Shamus enjoys
playing in the yard with his new friend (a two-year-old mix, the Lab is
getting a little to old) and digging for moles!!!! He has a lovable
personality and is actually somewhat of a lap dog despite his size!! Last
time I checked, Shamus's weight was around 130 pounds and he seems to keep
getting larger. Shamus is still strange looking and I search and search
dog pictures trying to figure out what he is mixed with. Regardless of his
looks, he is and will always be the baby of the family!
