Bartholomew
came into my life when he was about fourteen weeks old, about
six months ago. I had just finished teaching a math class and students
were working when I heard something at the outside door to my classroom. A
student opened the door and in ran a little skinny black fuzzy puppy. He
was so friendly and hungry. By that afternoon, he had eaten well, had a
bed in my classroom from one of the guidance counselors at school and won
my heart. He has been my baby ever since. Bartholomew survived a bout with
parvo at Christmas even though he had been vaccinated, and is now a
healthy 70 pound love-muffin! He loves to ride in the front seat and is
ready to go any time. He is so friendly that he wants to stop and say
hello to everyone we meet when we are out walking or at the pet store.
Bartholomew stayed inside all the time until he learned how to turn on the
water in the bathroom sink and plug the drain, which flooded the bathroom!
Now he is an indoor when I'm home, and outdoor when I'm gone doggie. He
likes it outside, though, and has given himself a job to do - he keeps a
close watch on the neighborhood! Even though he is almost as tall as I am
now, he still will lay in my lap in my recliner and nap occasionally while
I pet his super soft coat. He is a treasure.
