This
is my best buddy in the world - Chewy. He is a German Shepherd mix
and I've had him since he was ten weeks old. We live in the Tampa Bay area
and Chewy loves being close to the beach! Ever since the first day
I saw him at the Humane Society I knew we'd be best friends. He was shy
and hiding in the corner of his run, but when the volunteers took him
outside to meet me he came right up to sit in my lap and licked me on the
nose... we've been inseparable since.
He got his name because since he was a puppy he's had his own way of
communicating and it sounds a lot like Chewbacca from Star Wars. He comes
up and "talks" to me when he wants water or to go outside, or just wants
his head scratched. Chewy, (or Mr. C as I like to call him), is very
protective of me but he's a super sweet and loving dog at the same time.
Nothing makes him happier than having someone lay on the floor with him
and rub his belly, but chasing squirrels comes close. He's a great role
model/big brother to his younger siblings, Spanky (one-year-old pit bull)
and Rex (two-year-old Aussie). He loves wrestling with them and playing
chase at the dog park. Over the years Chewy has been the best friend a
girl could ask for - from bravely protecting me from a burglar to being a
fuzzy shoulder to cry on. I can't imagine life without him!
