Otto, the Dog of the Day
Name: Otto
Age: Six years old
Gender: Male Breed: Polish Lowland Sheepdog
Home: Sandpoint, Idaho, USA

Otto was bred in Poland, shipped to Maine and then shipped to Cleveland, Ohio where my family and I were visiting our relatives. My grandma picked him up from the airport and brought him to our relative's house. My brother and I had no idea that we would be getting our dog earlier than we thought. We were traveling by RV and we brought him back to California. My favorite thing about Otto is his smile... yep, he smiles! Sometimes people think that he's growling at them, but not our sweet little boy.

Otto is very smart. I have taught him tricks like: roll over, play dead, and speak, though he is not a barking dog. I have also taught him to help us bring the groceries and the newspaper in the house. He will do anything to get a carrot or a lick of peanut butter. His favorite things to do are go on walks, play with his toys (Porky/Hedgie and Santa-the squeaky ones!), and get massages from me. He knows words like: walk, peanut butter, carrot, treat, Porky/Hedgie, Santa, squirrel and spanka-da-bottom (when he gets in trouble he gets a little pat on the bottom). Whenever he hears those words he lifts his ears up in excitement... well except for spanka-da-bottom. Otto can be very stubborn sometimes. He will ignore me when I tell him to come to me but he can be a good boy. He's got a great personality and he always has to act like a person. If he gets bored, he'll throw his toy for himself and pick it back up. The great thing about his breed is that they don't bark very much at all and they don't shed because they have hair. We have almost lost Otto a few times. He's had a few seizures and we had to rush him to the hospital. He is fine now and hasn't had a seizure since the last one happened. We also have a bunny and a lizard in the house. Otto likes to play with the bunny but he is scared of the lizard. I also like to put hats and glasses on him and it's the funniest thing! Whenever I cry he comes up to me and licks my face. We moved to Idaho last year and it was a big change for my family and Otto... especially living in the snow for the first time! Last winter he discovered snow and he just loves it! He likes to run in it and eat it too. Otto is just a very special dog and he brings so much joy to my family and I. We love him so much! Hoped you enjoyed reading about Otto! Otto says hi!
