My
name is Edelweiss Destiny, but I am called by my initials E D, which is
spelled "Edie." My humama wants to nominate me fur the Dog of the Day
recognition. I am a three-year-old longhair miniature Dachshund who lives just
outside of Nashville, Tennessee. I don't think I am any more special than
anywoof else, so I will step aside to let my humama tell you why I should be
recognized!
Hi, Becky, a.k.a. Humama, here. Edie is such a special little girl! She was
the birthday gift for me and for my then-seven-year-old triplet sons. She is a
small dog, but has the playfulness and heart of a much bigger dog. She is
smart and amusing, having amassed quite a few tricks in her repertoire. She
never knows a stranger, and has such a good relationship with our mail carrier
that he leaves her a doggie treat nearly every day.
But the thing that makes Edie so special is the way she takes care of her
"pack." If she has the sense that someone is sad, she makes it her mission to
cheer them up. When any member of the family is ill, she will stay right by
his or her side, taking care not to disturb that person if he or she is
resting. Presently I am recovering from foot surgery, and Edie didn't leave my
side for many hours, other than for brief food and bathroom breaks. She would
not let anyone pick her up to take her away from me, giving a rare growl to
those who would dare remove her. Edie is truly a nurse, a comedienne, a
confidant, a sister, and a friend. She is a fine young lady who is so deserving of such an honor.
