This
is our beloved Watson, who is about a year and a half old. We rescued
him from a wonderful shelter when he was just a young pup. They think he is
some kind of border collie mix but we often say he is "Kentucky Gray Dog"
because he and his littermates were found abandoned in Kentucky. When there
was no room for them in the Kentucky shelter, Safe Haven Animal Rescue in
Pennsylvania agreed to foster the whole litter until they could be adopted.
We had lost our Rottweiler, Sadie, just a few months earlier and, after months
of sadness, we finally felt we were ready for another furry family member.
We saw Watson and his siblings on the internet and drove three hours up to Pennsylvania
with the expectation that we would adopt one of his brothers but when we
approached their crate and all of the other puppies continued to chew on their
rawhides, our lone Watson wandered over toward us and licked our fingers
through the crate. We knew that the little gray runt of this litter was our
new family member.
Like most border collies, Watson is a very bright, exceptionally energetic pup
who has been known, on occasion, to use his energy to get himself into
trouble. He has brought endless love and laughter into our lives. We are so
thankful that Laura from Safe Haven found room in her home for Watson until he
could come live with us in Baltimore!
