Spike
is one of those animals that come along once in a human's lifetime. The
lessons I have learned from this amazing animal are many. Spike has opened
up doors for me I never would have opened. Spike is, in his own way, a
magical animal. I got Spike when he was seven weeks old. He was my healer
from grief and emotional supporter, all at the young age of only two months.
As Spike grew, he became somewhat of the neighborhood ambassador. He meets
and greets all who come his way. Yes, Spike is a dog, but, not just a dog.
See, my crazy yellow lab, not unlike the "Marley and Me" dog, is a healer,
a people magnet, a door opener, ice breaker, and many stories can be told
in regards to his life and times, and he's just eighteen months old. I have
witnessed Spike make people smile on dreary Monday mornings, make grown
men act silly, and give elderly ladies a purpose to go outside, early in
the morning, just to feed him treats. Yes, Spike is a dog, but he's also
my best friend.
