Hi,
everybody!!! My name is Cooper and I love life. Well, I love my Daddy
most of all - and my Mommy, brother and sister, and my grandparents in
Mississippi and Pennsylvania. But I really do love life even though I've
had a very rough life. My life now is great but before I got into Sheltie
rescue I was in pretty bad shape. I had been picked up by the Memphis
Animal Shelter and had been attacked by either one big dog or maybe a
pack. They also found out I had heart worms. Someone had also shaved all
my hair off (didn't do a very good job, according to the rescue lady, Miss
Kim) and left me naked in December.
It also turned out that I have severe arthritis and they were going to do
surgery on me at the University of Missouri in Columbia to replace my
elbows. Unfortunately, it did not work so my left arm is now fused, making
it shorter than the other. This makes me limp but I don't really think
much about nor do the people who love me. People are always asking about
it and it makes my Mommy sad and sometimes mad when the person asks in a
rude way. My Daddy and my Mommy are very protective of me and my feelings.
Since I have a regimen of pills I take for pain, arthritis and thyroids I
get tired of it but I know it's for my own good. I even used to go to
Physical Therapy and they would do underwater treadmill, ultrasound,
massage and acupuncture. My PT doctor moved to Florida which made me sad
cause she loved me and I loved her. (Dr. Miller, if you are somehow
reading this - HI, it's me Cooper. I miss you! I love you!!!) Now, I go to
acupuncture once a month.
I love my babies. I have a duck, a pig, a moose, an alien, and tons more
toys. I can't go outside without one. My sister, Mali, and I always are
accompanied in the yard and it is usually a fact one of my babies has to
come with me. If I don't see one nearby I get upset and somebody has to
help me find one. Now, I don't bring them in as that's the job of whomever
took me out. I can't be responsible for everything - ha ha!
I do have a brother and sister as mentioned before. I'm the middle child.
My brother, William, is a ten-year-old Maine Coon cat. He's a pretty neat
brother to have. My sister, on the hand, is a handful. She's spoiled - no,
I'm not spoiled. Really. I'm not. Why are Mommy and Daddy laughing so hard
right now? Mali and I get along most of the time. She's also a Sheltie but
she has the blue merle coloring. Don't anyone ever tell her but she really
is pretty.
I've enjoyed talking to y'all and I hope you enjoyed getting to know a
little about me.
Note from Cooper's Mommy and Daddy: Cooper (a.k.a. Coopiekins, Coopster,
Coop, Bubba, Super Cooper and Cooperman) is a joy in our lives. We're so
very glad we found him in rescue. We failed Foster 101 as we were going to
foster him but knew as soon as we saw him that he would be with us
forever!!! If you never tried rescue, give it a try the next time you want
a new little girl or boy in your life. Cooper is living proof of how
wonderful it is. We hope you enjoyed our little one!
Cooper recently had a life-threatening illness but his courage and love of
life pulled him through. They are not quite sure exactly what happened but
he was in the equivalent of intensive care for a week but he's been home
now for about three weeks and is getting stronger though he has lost his
huge love of food which is very strange for Cooper. We are just so
thankful and overjoyed to have our Cooper back.
