Katie
is our brindle retired racing Greyhound. Katie is a wonderful,
beautiful, amazing goof ball who just wants all of the love she can get
from anyone. She has never met a stranger. When I take her to Greyhound
events everyone wants to adopt her, but I quickly let them know that she
already has her forever home. She makes me laugh every day with her zest
for life and squeaky toys. She is so sweet to slow down and play with her
fifteen-year-old sister Alli (sometimes:). I can't imagine our house
without the irrepressible Katie Bug!
Katie is the most loveable and social creature, and she and I were meant
to be together. I had unexpectedly lost my first greyhound just weeks
prior - my sweet, beautiful Rita - and decided I needed to get away. I
planned a drive to Florida to visit my friend, Michelle. She called that
very night, before I even told her I was coming to visit. Michelle had
just returned from Greyhound Adoptions of Florida, a rescue farm near her
home run by a very devoted and special woman, Marilyn Varnberg. Michelle
told me all about this lovely, young brindle girl she had just seen at the
farm, and the next thing I knew I was arranging with Marilyn to pick up my
new girl, Katie.
Katie is an incredible runner, so we're not sure why she came off the
track so young. But one thing is for sure - she and I are both lucky to
have each other, and she has settled into her life as one of the world's
fastest couch potatoes with grace and ease!
