This
is our girl Gracie. Gracie is an exceptionally smart dog. One of many
ways she communicates with us is a bell hanging on a door. She rings it
(with her nose) different ways according to what she wants; such as, go
outside, eat or play. If she wants to out to the bathroom, she rings the
bell three times. If she is hungry she rings it two times. And if she just
wants to play, she rings it once. Gracie know several commands; such as,
sit, shake right hand and left, speak and get the ball or fetch.
Gracie also like to play volleyball. That is her favorite game and she
even has her own volleyball. She has a great serve with her nose. Gracie
loves to go for car rides, especially to Dairy Queen; she loves the doggie
treat cups there! Gracie is very affectionate and sleeps with her Mom and
Dad (at their feet on the bed). Sometimes she thinks she is part cat, she
walks up to you rubs her head and 89-pound body on you - like a cat! She
has two sisters that are also Labs, but not as energetic because one is eighteen
years and one is eight years old.
Gracie's adopted cousin Rudi, is a very smart Border Collie who loves to
come over and play and run on our ten acres. Gracie has another cousin,
Adrian, she is a brindle boxer. When the three of them play it gets a little
crazy! Gracie had another adopted cousin name Polly. She was Gracie's
favorite cousin. Polly had a heart condition and has passed on to doggie
heaven. Gracie misses her dearly.
When Gracie's Mom and Dad get ready for work, she gets very sad, pouts and
crawls under the bed and won't look at us or come out until she knows it's
time for us to leave. Sometimes mornings are sad. But when her Mom and Dad
get home she runs around and will grab her toys; her volleyball or lamb to play!
