We
adopted Harvey from the California Shar Pei Rescue. As with most rescued
Shar Pei, his life before being saved was sad - full of turmoil and neglect.
No more! He hit the canine lottery and we intend to love and spoil him every
remaining day of his life.
We've had many Shar Pei in our family over the last 30 years, but Harvey is
the most unique in every way. He has wrinkles on his wrinkles! When he lays
down it looks like he melted, and when he wants to look at something he has to
raise his head slightly because his wrinkles get in the way. His coat is
bristly like velvet and the color is blue and brindle with white flowers.
Harvey's a prankster and a clown and is our constant source of laughs. He
enjoys playing fetch with fuzzy, squeaky toys. His muzzle is so large that
when he picks up a huge stuffed toy in his mouth, it becomes an enormous
smile. Don't be fooled by the relaxed look on his face! He has boundless
energy and can leap over four feet and loves to run and prance.
Harvey has never met a human that he doesn't adore, especially children. He
likes to nuzzle his big, mushy face in your hands or lap. We enjoy all the
unusual vocals that he uses to express himself. He sounds as if he trying to
find the right syllables, but is not quite there yet. We adore his beautiful
and humorous spirit and couldn't imagine our lives without him.
