One
day, my boyfriend and I went to our local Wal-mart intending to get
Halloween decorations, but we ended up bringing home "our son." We saw a
small cardboard box outside the store with him and his twin sister, both
only six weeks old and needing a home. Something ached in my heart to take
him home, so I did. The first dog I had ever owned died a few years
earlier on my sixteenth birthday so I knew it was time for another
companion. I was terrified to bring him home to my family but they ended
up falling in love with him.
Now, he is a very large, 86 pound, love bug who does the best things for
our family. He came into my parents life just at the right time. My
parents were going through their mid-life crisis and my mother has come to
me before saying "I don't know what we would do without Dante." He loves
to play with his wheel and box with my boyfriend. There have been several
instances I have looked at him and told myself, "He has mended this what
would be broken heart." We love him as a son, not as "just a pet."
