Poppy
is a blue heeler and dachshund mix - a Blue Dash! Poppy is her name
because she is always engaged in every aspect of life-- her little head
always popping up and down with great interest in all she sees and everyone
she meets. Her first snow was a particularly curious and interesting event--
she ran like a greyhound through the yard, jumping in the snow and in
traditional dachshund fashion, digging that nose into the snow like a tiny
snow plow. Her markings are obviously very unusual and unique. Her mom is a
blue heeler, and her dad is an ambitious dachshund. She's a youngster, but I
can tell she is going to be a great little companion - her nature and
disposition is sweet and happy.
Her tricks are a little limited at this time because she's so young, but she
can sit, stay and when I suggest she gets her green ball, or one of her toys,
she seems to understand really well, and grabs the ball or toy. She loves to
fetch the ball, but her favorite thing to do is run. When her sister Katy is
here (my sister adopted Poppy's sister!) they play chase. Poppy tucks her
tail (better running power I guess-- more aerodynamic!) and flies through the
yard. She'll even do that when she's not playing chase with Katy - she loves
to run.
She has a very sweet and affectionate personality. When I get her out of her
crate each morning, she is wriggling all over as if to say, "oh, it's you! I
really missed you overnight." While my cats aren't her best friends yet, she
continues to try and win them over with her playfulness. I feel she will
eventually wear them down.
