This
is my baby boy Cochise. He is nine-months-old and is a "wooly" Siberian
Husky. The long hair is actually considered a defect in the breed but that is
one of the things that I love the most about him.
We rescued Cochise from a couple that got him when he was only a few weeks old
and basically threw him in the backyard to fend for himself. One of my
husband's employees lived next door and always saw him running loose, almost
getting hit by cars on a daily basis. He knew we already had some huskies and
told my husband that we should take him. The employee approached the couple
and asked if they wanted to get rid of the dog. The woman said yes because
they bought it so that it would grow up with their granddaughter and it was
just "too much trouble". She said that she just wanted to give it away. When
she found out that we were interested she decided that she wanted $150 for
him. Well, it was one of the best investments that we ever made. He was a mess
when we got him. He had tar stuck to him and even had parvo. He spent three days
at the animal hospital but made it through with flying colors. He was only six
weeks old when we rescued him but he has grown into a beautiful ball of fluff!
He is definitely a survivor!
He is definitely the light of my life! We don't get much snow in El Paso. In
fact, we have driven 120 miles up into the mountains already twice this year
so that our huskies can play in the snow. I actually have a total of four
huskies. They are very smart dogs and they are definitely not for everyone but
they seem to be an excellent match for our family. We are both very lucky to
have found each other. He definitely would not be alive today if we hadn't
rescued him. He's my "baby" boy and loves to ride with me in my jeep when we
go out four-wheeling. We take our dogs out to the desert every weekend so that
they can run to their hearts content. Huskies are very high energy and they
absolutely love to go out and run. He loves to have his belly rubbed. He's my
little buddy and I wouldn't trade him for the world!
