My
fiance and I considered getting our first dog for a year or more, but we
never found the "right" one for both of us. That was, until we found Hannah. I
found Hannah on the Internet at a shelter over an hour away. Immediately, I
thought she was adorable, and I somehow convinced my boyfriend to make the
drive that weekend to see if she was the right fit.
As we rounded the corner of the shelter, she was the very first dog we saw!
She was up on her back legs with the biggest smile on her face (I'm not
kidding--she really smiles!). She was one of the only dogs not barking; in
fact, she seemed to be inviting us to play with her. I looked at my fiance,
who had the same enchanted look in his eye, and we both knew this was it--this
was the dog.
Hannah now lives with us in our apartment, where she enjoys long walks, the
dog park, belly rubs, squeaking her favorite turtle chew toy, lying out on the
balcony when the weather is nice and pretty much anything beef-flavored.
Hannah enjoys her alone time (on the couch watching CSPAN), but she also needs
lots of attention, love and hugs. It has been such a joy watching her blossom
from the frightened dog she was when we first got her to the calm, assured dog
that she is today.
