We
got Scruff as our first family pet in November 2004 - he was ten weeks old. We went
through some rough times with him as a puppy, but as he grew into an adult, he became
the most remarkable dog. Scruff loved to howl when we howled with him.
Scruff has been the best brother to our foster animals. He loved the
kittens and allowed them to share his bed with him. He has helped stimulate so many
newborn pups and kittens. He also loved the new pups! Everybody was his new playmate!
Scruff has been our oldest son's best friend. He slept in his bed every night - when my
son did not kick him out! Scruff had the biggest heart there ever was in a dog. He was
even able to teach our youngest son how to love a dog and form a bond. When I got hurt
at work he stayed by my side the entire time I was recovering. When his "boy" Austin had
viral meningitis, he stayed by his side until he was well. And when our youngest dog,
Piglet, almost died Scruff was beside him like glue.
Scruff is now sick, he's suffering from Sarcoma of the Spleen. He
just had a Reki treatment, which seemed to help, but we are worried about our boy. I
just wanted to send this as a dedication to him. He changed my life, my family's life,
and I will never forget that. In six short years he became more to us than just a dog,
he became our third child.
I love our Scruffers - with all of my being. He really is one of a kind.
