Max
is a very special dog, He was in a kill shelter in Georgia. He was
rescued and transported to New Jersey by Eleventh Hour Rescue. I found him
in December 2005 on Pet Finders. Well, actually I was there to see another
rescue (a boxer) but the boxer was very shy with people. So they brought
out Max (pit bull mix) to run with the boxer to show me how the boxer was
with other dogs. I fell in love when Max (a.k.a. Babe LOL) came out to
play. He was eight months old and when I saw him running with the boxer with a
never ending smile... I was sold!
Max was eight months old and such a happy, awesome dog. I had never had a dog
before and didn't feel that a dog like the boxer Roy with such issues
because of human abuse was a good match for me. But I couldn't take my
eyes of Max and the rest is history. I had, at the time, three cats and
asked Linda (founder of 11th Hour) if he would be okay with cats. She told
me that if any dog would be okay with anything it would be Max!
So I took him home, it took time to acclimate everyone but Max was a
trooper. I am a dog walker/pet sitter and Max was able to work with me. He
did and still does ride in the car with me and goes on lots of walks and
play dates. Max is one of the most kind and gentle souls I have ever met.
He is truly a very special dog.
When I adopted Max he was Heart Worm Positive. He was treated in Georgia,
and after vet visits tested negative. It took some time, but today he is a
very healthy happy loving boy.
Max is the type of dog that can be around other dogs that are dog
aggressive because he is so mellow and basically diffuses any kind of
aggression (but I am careful to ensure his safety).
We are in the process of getting him pet therapy certified. We were
persuing it two years ago but he had to have knee surgery which took
precedence over everything. Max's face is the logo of my business and he
is truly an amazing dog!
