Chloe
joined our family at age 11 and yet it seems as though she has
always been with us. Althouth she has cancer and is considered to be in
hospice with us, she teaches us more about life every day. Chloe lives
each day to the fullest, loving her tennis ball and taking it
everywhere. If I am busy at my desk, she entertains herself by rolling
it under my desk, just out of her reach, so that I must take a break and
get it for her. If she gets bored with that game, she will lay on the
floor next to me, mouthing her ball until it pops out of her mouth and
goes flying through the air so that she can chase it down and begin game
anew. Her tail is almost always wagging and she is always up for a walk
around the block, sniffing everything she can.
She joined our pack of dogs and cats gracefully, tolerating the
youngsters and ignoring nonsense. She loves the world and finds the
good in each day. All this, in spite of the nasal tumor that makes
breathing a bit more of an effort than it should be. She plays and wags
her tail cuddles with her best friend, Rusty. She is living each day to
the fullest and reminds me to to the same. She is my inspiration in the
volunteer work I do with Goldens, she is my inspiration as I remind
myself to find the good in each day and not worry about the challenges
so much. She has a best friend, Rusty, another Golden who is nine and has
spent his entire life with her. As a result of her nasal tumor, she
drools excessively in her sleep, so Rusty licks her face gently each morning.
Chloe is doing great and enjoys her time in the snow... sniffing along
the road on our walks, waiting for me to throw her ball and then
searching for it when it is buried in the snow. We love her dearly and
are so lucky to have her in our family.
